Ebony Reigns


 

Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng (16 February 1997 – 8 February 2018), known by the stage name Ebony, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist widely known for her hit songs "Poison", "Maame Whe"and "Kupe". She was discovered by Bullet, a member of Ruff n Smooth fame.
Ebony was discovered by renowned musician and entrepreneur Bullet of Ruff n Smooth fame when she sent a recording of her voice and was signed to his Rufftown record label just a day after listening to the recording. Ebony came out with her first single, "Dancefloor", in December 2015 with a video and audio release. The song became a hit on radio landing her nomination for the unsung category at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards. In March 2016 Ebony released her major hit single "Kupe", which is a household anthem in Ghana and some other African countries. In January 2017 ebony released her third single titled poison featuring Gatdoe ,that was the song that gave her the massive recognition with its catchy chorus. Poison topped charts in Ghana and had massive play on radio despite some industry players criticizing it as a profane song. After poison she released "Date your father" and "hustle" both did well on the music market. Later she announced dropping a full album on December 21, 2017 "Bonyfied" Ebony is signed to ruff town records and Midas touch Inc.
Ebony died on 8 February 2018, returning from Sunyani to Accra after a visit. She was involved in a car accident and died at the Bechem Government Hospital, one week prior to her 21st birthday.
