Ghana's Independence - Retrograde

Governor Guggisberg suceeded governor Clifford. Guggisberg is admired by a lot people even after attainment of Independence. He became governor from 1919. He was a surveyor and an Engineer.

Guggisberg focused on three key areas; industry, transportation and agriculture. He managed to export a total of 60,000 tones of cocoa with a population of 4.2 million. Guggisberg constructed the korle-Bu teaching hospital to train Ghanaians who wish to be doctors. He built the Achimota school - from kindergarten to shs. He refurbished the Accra Technical College built by Clifford.

Guggisberg constructed cocoa roads and feeder roads by taking loans from then British government. He expanded roads. He built the Takoradi port and constructed railways from Takoradi to Kumasi and from Kumasi to Accra. He constructed more than 8,000 km roads.

What have we attained after 61yrs of political independence that is worth commemorating? Ghana's 61yrs cannot be compared to 37yrs of Guggisberg's government. Ghanaians should bow our heads down in shame instead of wasting gargantuan sum of monies celebrating independence of corruption, poor healthcare, bad education system, high inflation, suicidal roads and transport systems.

What are they celebrating there at the black star square? Where are they matching to?
